Axelle Lenaerts (°1995 , lives and works in Antwerp) is a visual artist and filmmaker who explores the world in a poetic way. In 2019, she graduated as Master in Fine Arts (Media Art) at KASK in Ghent, followed by a postgraduate at HISK in Brussels in 2022/23. Lenaerts translates emotions and stories into images. She processes these into films, photography, drawings and text which she combines into installations. In an intimate way, she portrays people, places and feelings from her immediate surroundings, her personal environment. She sees her work as an attempt to decipher the world. Lenaerts constantly asks herself many questions, about cultures, about psychology, about nature, in short, about life itself. That is why topics like memory, identity, anthropology and language are a constant in her work.
